City of Farmington Hills to Celebrate Juneteenth with Free Concert at The Hawk Theatre on June 19

In celebration of the national Juneteenth holiday, the City of Farmington Hills Department of Special Services Cultural Arts Division and The Hawk Theatre are proud to present a free concert for the community, featuring a night of soulstirring music and celebration with DA’JA live at The Hawk Theatre Mainstage.  Metro Detroit-based DA’JA is on a musical mission to build bridges between genres, generations, races and cultures, past and present by blending jazz, funk, R&B and Latin influences to create a unique sound. Tickets to the all-ages performance are free and can be reserved at TheHawkTheatre.com. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, honors the day when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally received news of their freedom on June 19, 1865, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous occasion marked the end of slavery in the United States and is celebrated annually as a symbol of liberation and resilience. Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021. |

The City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department invites community members of all ages to celebrate Juneteenth at The Hawk Theatre. The City of Farmington Hills is one of the largest and most diverse cities in Oakland County. The City’s Cultural Arts Division, part of the Special Services Department, offers the community a wide range of year-round arts programming for audiences of all ages, abilities and interests. Programs are open to everyone in metro Detroit. |
