City of Farmington Hills to Begin Construction on Halsted Road Between Eight Mile and Nine Mile Roads on Monday, June 16

Posted:  06/13/2025

The City of Farmington Hills Department of Public Services will begin road reconstruction on Halsted Road between Eight Mile and Nine Mile Roads on Monday, June 16. This section will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed in late November. Local access will be maintained.

Weather permitting, beginning the morning of Monday, June 16, Halsted Road will be closed at Eight Mile Road for the first two to three weeks of the project to complete drainage updates. During this time, access for local traffic will be maintained southbound from Nine Mile Road.

Following the completion of the drainage work, the road closure will move to just north of St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church for the remainder of the project. During this phase of the project, there will be a complete closure of Halsted Road from just north of the church to Nine Mile Road. Local access will be maintained northbound from Eight Mile to the church. Residents in subdivisions off of Halsted Road north of the church will be able to access their neighborhoods from entrances on Nine Mile Road.

A posted detour will direct drivers on the mile roads westbound to Haggerty Road and around the closure.

The City recognizes that this construction may cause inconvenience and greatly appreciates the community's patience throughout this period. This project will greatly enhance a one mile stretch of Halsted Road that carries thousands of vehicles per day, resulting in improved transportation efficiency and safety. The project represents an investment of approximately $4 million.
